This weekend’s festival is taking it back to Hip Hop’s roots.
“More than anything we wanted to have a festival that represents Hip Hop culture and not the Rap music industry,” said Rodrigo “RodStarz” Venegas, of the Rebel Diaz Arts Collective, which helped organize the event, to NY Daily News. “Hip Hop culture … represents values of unity, of justice, of peace. And we don’t feel like the corporate-driven Rap music industry represents that.”
The South by South Bronx festival, which is going down today at the Hostos center. It will feature DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Caz, and renowned B-Boy Popmaster Fabel.
