Miami’s Soarse Spoken Explores Heartbreak/Drops EP + Video

Avant-garde rapper, Soarse Spoken, returns from a 2 year creative hiatus with a new, four track conceptual EP titled Pretty Dark Summer. This is the southern lyricists’ latest effort after his last project, Starve the Hunger, released independently back in late 2012. Whereas Starve the Hunger, which was more of a gritty mixtape-style project with a slew of guest features including Stones Throws’ own Homeboy Sandman, Houston’s Fat Tony, ¡Mayday!’s own Wrekonize and Bernz as well as a multitude of other talented spitters, Pretty Dark Summer delivers something different by placing the Colombian born wordsmith behind the helm of a different ship and focusing on one specific subject: Heartbreak, in a more somber, downtempo tone.

Listen to ‘Pretty Dark Summer’:

Borrowing recent production from British Producer Aches, exclusively for the video accompanied “Her (v2)”, and T. Hemingway’s remix of a Gold Panda track for “Reprise” covering two out of four of the songs on the EP, respectively, Soarse Spoken then also teams up with Producer/DJ Mike Deuce to round out the EP and put together an “audio diary” of heartbreak spanning a few consecutive Summers for the Miami emcee. Featuring Electro-dance duoAfrobeta on the title track, “Pretty Dark Summer”, This EP promises the abstract style that ‘Soarse’ has come to be known for while also dealing with the recovery process of what it takes to bounce back from a couple of bad-ending relationships.
